dataspot. Workshops
Tuesday, 24 June | 10:25–12:20
SAP data under control: business data, governance & data lineage
With Barbara Kainz and Peter Krammer, dataspot.

Participants learned how to get a handle on their SAP data through a business understanding and by linking technical data lineage with the business view. We explained how metadata could be used for successful SAP migration and for replacing BW systems in order to accelerate migrations and minimise errors. In addition, best practices for establishing effective data governance were presented to control and secure SAP data throughout its entire lifecycle.
Wednesday, 25 June | 10:30–12:10
Data domain map & business data modelling – the ‘real’ world in data
With Barbara Kainz and Erik Schütze, dataspot.

The workshop began with a key question: how can a company truly understand itself in terms of data? The starting point was a data domain map, which was then further developed into a business data model. Together with the specialist department, participants explored the method for creating a data map and immediately tested it in groups using practical examples. The focus then shifted to the procedure for building the business data model. In group work, participants developed their own models from the data domain maps and highlighted the tangible benefits.
