The metadata management software with the little bit extra

dataspot. 4.1 is here - and with new highlights in metadata management.
For you, we briefly summarize the new features and their additional benefits here:

Metadata Reconciliation+

Until now, the dataspot. JdbcMetadataConnector could import metadata from all JDBC-enabled data sources at the push of a button, and also perform a fully automated reconciliation with all sources and thus detect all changes and bring them directly under governance using workflow. Now this function is analogously available in all other dataspot. Imports (Excel, CSV, JSON, XML).

From now on, the mode in which an import is to be performed can be specified. Either like before - elements are only added or changed - or now with a new possibilty - comparison of all elements of a (partial) model: "Deleted" metadata elements are either really deleted or marked via a status, i.e. e.g. inactive - as required in the context of governance. This important aspect that makes the work of data pioneers easier and more efficient.

Reference Data Management+

A long-awaited feature for dataspot's reference data management is available with the release 4.1:

In addition to the classic reference objects, which can manage any reference values - if desired also with time series - dataspot. now also offers hierarchical reference data! Depending on your needs, reference objects can be"linked"to a superordinate reference object , so that hierarchies such as country - state - district - municipality can be mapped easily and clearly. Another typical use case are country-specific characteristics of reference values - the number of hierarchy levels is unlimited. dataspot's time-tested transistion tables can of course still be used to model hierarchies.

Data modeling+

Data modeling in dataspot. now with even more governance support!

We have now met the desire to specify a set of attributes for similar business or data objects in a standardized way. Attributes that are already modeled together in one object can be "embedded" into another object as an "attribute group ". For example, the surname, first name, title and date of birth of the Person object are linked as a standard data structure for customer, supplier and contact person - this ensures that the basic person data is modeled in the same way for each type of person.

The same mechanism is used for mapping hierarchically structured data objects like JSON, XML. And if you prefer to map a glossary instead of a subject data model in dataspot. you can use this function to create a beautiful subject structure for terms and explanations in any number of levels.

Authentication+

Last but not least - an even easier entry into metadata management. Until now, login and authentication was done via external directory services (e.g. LDAP) and via single sign-on in addition to the integrated user management in dataspot. Now it is also possible to log in via Microsoft authentication (Azure). The connection via OpenID Connect facilitates the integration with cloud solutions. Security by default can be created by configuring Microsoft Login with multifactor authentication (MFA).

Metadata management with dataspot. - fully secure!

dataspot. - more than a Data Catalog

We have incorporated years of know-how from our consulting practice and our data excellence approach into our metadata management software. As a web-based collaboration platform, it manages, structures, links, and presents business metadata and all associated data governance aspects in a comprehensible way.

Metadata must also be equally understandable and available to everyone. After all, knowledge about data is needed not only by a few people in the company, but by everyone: departments, business partners, project members, management, and authorities.

Our metadata management software is the #1 data governance tool according to BARC's latest The Data Management Survey 23 with goof reason!
